Kraków Gospel Choir

Kraków Gospel Choir

Kraków Gospel Choir – the first ever gospel choir in Krakow (and the first is Poland). It was established thanks to the initiative of Lea Kjeldsen (who promotes and has helped spread gospel music all over Poland, and was Krakow Gospel Choir’s conductor until 2011) in 1999, just after the  first ever Gospel Workshop in Krakow, at the request of those who enthusiastically welcomed gospel music in this city. The choir brings together people of various nationalities and social groups, people who each face different challenges. At present the group is led by three conductors: Rhonda Adams and Sylwia and Grzegorz Szulik. Over the years, KGC had worked with artists and gospel music performers both from both within Poland and overseas, like Diana Drozdziel, Paulina Knapik, Karen Gibson, Peter Steinvig, amongst others. They have also worked in conjunction with numerous state institutions in the city of Krakow, as well as with the church community. The fruit of their work is twofold – the two albums they have released: Yes I know Jesus (2004) and All Because of Jesus (2009), and, most importantly, the concerts they have performed and continue to perform. All of this is an accumulation of the choir’s artistic efforts as well as providing them with a challenge, motivating them to keep developing.
